Teenagers : Issues | Parenting Tips

Who is a Teenager?

Teenager is a person who is 13 through 19

years old. Each country's age range varies.

They are referred to as teens since their age

ends with the letter "teen".

Adolescents, as defined by the United

Nations, are individuals aged 10 to19,

accounting for 16% of the global population.

Role of Teenagers

Teenagers who participate in community

activities will develop communication,

leadership, negotiating, planning,

organisational, and management abilities.

Issues of Teenagers

1. Depression

In 2017, an estimated 3.2 million teenagers

in the United States experienced at least one

major depressive episode, according to the

National Institute of Mental Health. 1

Depression is more common in teenagers

who overuse electronic devices.

2. Sexuality

39.5 percent of high school students reported

being sexually active, according to the 2017

Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance statistics.2

It's possible that parents aren't aware of

their children's sexual activity.

It is critical to have a conversation with your

youngster about sex.

3. Alcohol

In 2019, 24.6 percent of 14-to 15-year-olds

reported to consuming at least one alcoholic

beverage.

Teenagers who drink are also more prone to

gain weight and have health issues.

People who started drinking at the age of 13

and drank five or more drinks in a row were

substantially more likely to be overweight or

have high blood pressure by the age of 24

than their nondrinking friends, according to

a University of Washington study.

How Do You Motivate A

Teenager

1. Be Friends. If you have a teenage child

you should be their best friend.

They should be able to talk to you about

their issues.

Don't say, "I don't have time right now,"

when they want to chat to you.

2. Acceptance

Accept the opinions of teenagers

If there is a teenager in your home, when

taking any decisions, you should also the

consider their opinions.

This will help them to feel closer to you.

3. Family Time. Make time for your family

every day. Everything should be shared

together.

Teenagers can reduce their mental stress by

spending time with their families.
